Scotland has a rich history of stories told through both song and the spoken word and we are now seeing the publication of more and more books written in, and ‘translated’ into, Scots.
We are lucky to live in the North East of Scotland where we have a wide variety of dialects for such a small area.
As part of our celebration of the Scots language you are invited to download the story ‘Jordan’s New Jaiket’ to read with your child at home.
This story, written by Matthew Fitt and illustrated by Ross Collins, contains some beautifully drawn illustrations and contains some wonderful examples of the Scots language.
